Most web hosts will keep a backup from the previous day, and the backup is stored on the same server. If the website was infected with a virus then the backup will also contain the same virus.
There are often cases when a new WordPress update is not compatible with a plugin, or the version of PHP or MySQL that is running on the server, the website breaks and sometimes cannot be recovered at all, what happens then?
